OK, so my big idea of painting my bathroom has basically turned into a full blown remodel and as usuall nothing is working right.
My most reccent problem is:
I go to install my new faucett an the plunger rod will not go thru the sink, the rod sits back just past the rear edge of the center hole........soooooo my options are:
A. Dont use the plunger and forget about the rod
B. buy a new sink (dont really want to do that)
C. Grind out the back edge of the hole to make room for the plunger rod.
How do I go about reaming the hole bigger???

Buy a cheap $30 sink from lowes. If you don't like the laminate do that too. Takes about 4 hours to do the whole thing.
Yes you can laminate over laminate so you do not have to remove the old stuff.
Total cost is under $100 for a "new" bathroom lav.:MowingLawn:

Do Elaborate.......I F'ing hate the existing laminate.
as for pics.....its a basic round white sink. Im pretty sure I could easily grind a notch and my faucet would work, just not sure what to do it with...dremel? rotozip...chainsaw...C-4 ??

My personal favorite is DAP Contact Cement, gel formula. It's also very popular. Just clean and lightly sand the old surface, cut your new laminate to size overhaning the front of course. Follow the simple direction for application. (apply to both surfaces, let dry, then press together)
You will need a router with a common squre bit, a file (for where the router does not fit, a roller (I can send you mine), glue, jig saw and or circular saw with a fine blade (for cutting new laminate).
If you have a rolled laminate (one piece) back slpsh I would not suggest this. this means your top is standard size and you can buy a whole new top....CHEAP

FYI all the countertops in my house are prestandard so I had to make my tops.

Dude just go and buy a new sink top from lowes. The are only about 150 bucks and they are easy as chit to install. Take off old top from cabinet, center new top, silicon new top in place on top of cabinet, hook up plumbing. Much easier than phucking whith laminate. I have the corian looking tops in my house and I love them, easy to clean and they look much more expensive than the are.

Try something like this. They have cheaper ones too but I couldn't find them on the site.

Dammit!
BTW when you hook up the three way make sure to turn off the power and meter your switch they are not the same and I would not want to see you playing Russian Roulette for hours trying to make the light come on.
I get the feeling I may need to stop by:)

Tony do What Ironman said that would be the easiest. What kind of faucet did you buy? You should take it back and get an American Standard. They have this new plunger assembly that is a cake walk. I put a new faucet in for Kim, and it only took me like 15min!

The laminate **** is easy too. we sell the sheets at Home Depot as well. But is a pain in the ass if you do not have square edges!

well chit! it wont fit the new sink either, I think Im just going to get a different faucett.
I cant really take a pic, the new vanity is still packaged for the most part, it may be getting returned too. Scott called and says he may have one that will fit.

OK, as you can see the plunger hole sits too far back. If you stick the plunger rod in the hole it hits the vanity just past the edge of the center hole.
This one is made of cultured marble, is there a way to grind that??

Tony take the faucet back. You need a faucet that has a more centered plunger. Make sure you get a 4" spread. Or look at the single handle faucets they seem to work better! When you buy the faucet make sure it has ceramic disc valves. The water up there is hell on the valves. What ever you do not buy moen. They are the only comp. that still uses plastic valves

Yes you can grind out the cultured marble, it would just be easier to buy a new faucet.

I'm sure you got a good deal on the faucet case it's non standard. The sink is standars 4" OC. Most in my house are 8" OC.

Is it too late in the game to just make a urinal out of the sink and just tell everyone to wash their hands in the kitchen?

Did you get this fixed? If not did the faucet have a curved plunger? If it has a curved plunger they are a biotch to put in. I had to install 3 of them and it sucked.
You have to put the plunger through the hole then rotate it so the holes for the handles line up then drop it in. If you try to attach the faucet and then put the plunger rod in you are phucked and you will have to take it off again.
Oh yeah if you have the sink top still off install the faucet, water lines, and drain BEFORE you attach it to the cabinet, it is much easier.
Good luck and god speed. You better hurry you have engines to rebuild before june 23rd.
