I have a 90 powerhead and pump under the bench. But I also have a pump for the bigger outboards, like the 175-250, so if I could find a 2.5 that would be the motor to put in it.

Just ahead of the dash area, is a really bad repair job.

Other than the 4 bolts in the transom the hull is in good shape. Its this deck that needs a bunch of work.

Maybe I'll find one later with a cracked hull.

Did you ever consider buying jets ski's cheap and parting them out? I bought a 96 sea doo XP (800cc) for $860 with trailer. If I parted it out it would be worth about $2,000 easily.

Sidewinder

I've never messed with a jet ski.

Sidewinder
01-18-2007, 02:55 AM
There are still several parts on it that I can use. It still has the fuel tank, the shift cable and steering cable. And the forward/reverse controls are there.

If you can do a jet boat...especially a force/sportjet....they're easy. Trust me I made the switch. Come up to the lair and I can teach you in an afternoon. Just bring beer.:Boating21:

The 90 Sportjet motor I have under the bench, I just saw one of them sell on ebay for $1,700. Not much more than that and you could have had the whole boat.

Giaganic parts market for sea doo. Just do a search on "sea doo 800", "seadoo 800", "sea doo 787", "seadoo 787" they made this popular model from mid 90's through early 2000. There are others, this is just an example I'm familar with.

I was hoping to put the motor in this one. Baja had one of the better looking jet boats. Most of the others were UGLY, and it was like the companys went out of their way to make them that way.

I've got a 13ft boat that I am building that a guy on the Checkmate board is interested in buying one to put a seadoo motor and drive into.

Sea Rayder (sea ray), regal, sugar sand are some popular ones I know. I'd suggest selling the pumps and power head on ebay seperately. You can ship those easily. If you put it in a boat all your going to get is about $2,500 plus you'll have to sell fairly local.

Lot more people with boats that need repairs than people with engines wanting a boat. Unfortunately the guys with boats...no engine don't advertise.....they look endlessly for the parts.

I sold a blown short block 717 with a badly scored lower crank journal for 500 bucks

was basically just both halves of the block, the crank, flywheel, rods

bajalion

The engine you sold was a "good core" for SBT. If you have any cracked aluminum they will charge you HUGE money. I own (800 parts):

2 new sbt engine...in the challenger 1800
1 good running engine...in my sea doo
1 rebuilt long block....extra
2 rebuilt cylinders
1 MPEM
1 short block (good for core)
1 carb (not a set)
bunches of other things!!!!!

The 717 is literally the same in working on as the 787 (800) its covered in all my manuals.

I sold another 717 shortblock in "unknown condition" for $800

last time I checked you could buy a complete remanned 717 for the same $$

I'm always EXTREMELY honest when listing seadoo parts and still am amazed at the $$ that they bring. 100% of my buyers have been very happy with what they got.

bajalion

You got pretty good $$$ from that. Note that core crank case (with crank) go for about $300-400, cylinders 100 each, intake manifold $50, head with cover $100. Stator $150 with cover. :)
