I just picked up a 1997 32 Fountain Fever. It has the 454 Magnum MPI Engines with Bravo Drives.

I want to change all the fluids and service the boat and was wondering what fluids/viscosity's everyone else was running in their engines and drives?

Any/All suggestions appreciated.

I am no expert on boat oil, but used Rotella 15-50 for my break-in and switched to Mobil1 15-50. Once I plugged all of the leaks, they seemed to sound a lot better.

I still use Rotella on mine. Flat tappet cams. I wouldnt use anything but merc high perf outdrive oil in my drives, just never had an oil related issue and the stuff does mix some with water to cover condensation or even a small leak.

I find FRESH NEW OIL to be the best kind, if your engines are fresh enough, 20-50 Valvoline Racing oil is very good !! if they are worn out then go with straight 40 or 50 wt the harley guys use 70 in the summer time !Good luck with your new boat !!

Thanks for the info. I guess its just like anything else... Everyone has an opinion. I have a case of Castrol GTX 20W50 sitting here I may put in it for the rest of the season then switch to Mobil 15W50. Seems thats the most "common" oil people are running. Could use just about anything that is recomended as long as you keep it clean and change it often enough. All personal preference I suppose.

Alot of debate on drive oil too.. Some like the Merc Hi-Po (Green Stuff) others like Mobil One or Alisyn.

thanks for the info
