I know the owner of that boat. He owns a small marina and buys and sells a few older Cigs a year. He did have a real nice older Apache last time I talked to him. He is in Lake Wylie area (south Charlotte).

Be careful what you ask for!! This is a true story of what happened to my X boat partner Rusty Pruitt he was one week away from showcasing on Americas most wanted, before he took himself out.
This is a long read but if any of you decide to read it remember this is the short version of the whole story and pay attention to the "beat with a pipe" twist

He acted normal until his meds ran out! It means nothing other than a very odd and true story about my X boat partner. (Ya just never know)

so true, I have a very short list of people I would consider as co-owners and even then, ya never know. Right now, the only thing stopping me from buying this is not having a place to put it in the winter. Hmm, whos got room?

If you're talking about taking out a loan on your 401(k), hopefully you have twice that amount. DOL/ERISA rules are loans cannot exceed 50% vested balance.
If youre talking about a distribution..... Hopefully you are > 59 1/2 or have incurred financial hardship.... Otherwise, generally the only other way to take a distribution is if your dead (which I hope youre not) or the plan terminates and no successor DC plan is set up by the employer.
With that said..... I'd say investing in a flat deck is just as safe as the market!

Yes to all of the above. How do I pull off financial hardship distribution? I should qualify I think, I mean, being without a cig is hardship for sure. Seriously, how does one prove hardship?

Rogue, let me know if you want some more pixs of the boat. It's only 15 min. south of where I work.
Cheers-

Dont worry about it... I know who audits your 401(K) plan. :Wall:
Cut me in as the partner and I will make it happen.
Financial need = hardship distribution.
Funny but this came directly from the IRS website. Note where it says what is NOT a financial need.
"Immediate and heavy financial need. Whether an employee has an immediate and heavy financial need is to be determined based on all relevant facts and circumstances. A distribution made to an employee for the purchase of a boat or television would generally not constitute a distribution made on account of an immediate and heavy financial need. A financial need may be immediate and heavy even if it was reasonably foreseeable or voluntarily incurred by the employee."

Interesting, now Im really interested if I can pull off a hardship distribution. After all, a Cig is not a "boat", its a mental necessity to alleve depression and other mood disorders so I dont carry a gun into a new york night club and shoot myself in the ass. I bet I could get a doctors prescription attesting to that.

Thats it....With my background in accounting and my hatred for it (hmmm, why did I go in this field to begin with).... I'm going back to school...Law school... If only I had listened to myself years ago and not some other person I would have my law degree by now.
I'm sure just from this site I know I would be able to make an honest living from BUI's, tax law, etc etc.
Certain people dont always know best I suppose.

Thats exactly why my buddy went to law school at the ripe old age of 50. Once he passes the bar he will have a steady workload for the rest of his life just keeping up with all of his friends and aquaintences.
