Since the season is over for most of us, lets hear who broke what.
I blew the side out of my sbd engine and later the same weekend broke my liver.

Blew and engine in the Doo. Put on a NEW oil pump the was faulty...I should have left the old one on or mixed the gas!

Don't think we broke anything...did have that water ingestion issue that resulted in new manifolds and risers, and had a semi spun prop hub that caused some head scratching.
Really didn't have the boat out enough this past season to FUBAR anything.

Looks like one of those crappy TRW pistons. How did it survive? My pistons were in tiny litle pieces when I did that. Is that crank broken?

Per engine:D
Since I spent 90% of the summer in the bilge, I broke absolutely nothing this year. But now that it's all together and running good I figured why not sell it? Meeting in PA on the 17th to let the (hopefully) new owner go over it and give me a check.

Thanks Thrill, nice site! I'm going back to a single engine to fly around in and gonna pick up a cruiser for the family. If the deal works out I'll have a new boat on the 17th.;)

Not on the boat, but a who broke what...
Someone managed to bend the rear axle in MrsBomars Grand Cherokee....the Dana/Spicer 44's they use as an "upgrade" have a freakin aluminum hosing and are weak as hell anyway...
So BajaPower and I spent today prepping the replacement (new rotors, pads, emergency brake shoes, brake lines, drain and refill, etc) and dropping the bent unit.
I'll have a grand in it before it's done.

I got three kids and none of my inlaws are NOT mechanically inclined. Now they volenteer my services to their freinds. Spend 1/2 the day winterizing a trailer with ice maker, dishwasher, wahsing machine.......
Needless to say my loft is NOT done.

Back to broken parts..... Good year 200 PSI Oil hose will not handle 60 PSI of 180*+ oil.

Yea, I'm starting to think my minor oil leaks are coming from the same pushlok hoses Im running 100psi at 250 degrees.

Push lock hoses...I never did trust them. The whole idea just sounds wrong!!!!

Years ago I had enough push lock air hoses blow off fittings at 100 psi or less for nail guns, etc I never trust them.
tmmiibaja
11-06-2006, 09:36 PM
The hose did not come off of the fitting, the hose came apart internally.

I dropped a valve in April screwing up yats of stuff. It's all better now.
I havn't figured out how to get pics from 150k down to 95k for posting yet:Rules:
I'm going out Friday, so there is still time this year...
If all works out, we're towing to Florida in January to get a head start on next year.

Hey Mark! Hope you're having a decent fall! Tell Becky hi.
We're heading to Naples in February, the week after the boat show. We did our first Miami Boat Show this past year. Had a great time, but I think that's an every other year deal.
Hopefully next November we can go to Key West for the Nationals.

Nice to see so many friends here!
Thanks for the link D Grl, I'll give it a try.
Good to see you too Bob, gonna call you about gages if I ever put the boat down for a rest. Prolly not till Feb:)
Barbi Doll, our fall is going ok since we're still boating:devil: Naples looks great, we're gonna do a few days in Sarasota at least. My old stomping grounds and my sis lives there. We're looking at Jan or Feb. Our 25th wedding anniversary is this winter so that's our excuse.
Staying on topic... I also broke my bank act buyin a new boat and rebuilding a motor right away:confused:

Congrats Thrill! That is some of the best carnage I've seen in a long time. Looks like someone tried to spray a 500 shot off idle!! So has it been determined what started that explosion?

Guessing either a Hydrolock of some sort, or the crank just let loose.
Bearings all looked good and the rod or piston was not broken (mangled but not broken) Head Gaskets were ok. One of the exhaust manifolds had some pretty serious rust streaking in it......

We didn't really break anything, but lost most of the oil pressure and had a lot of water in the port engine.
