Well its been 15 days w/o a cigarette. Saw my friend who owns a trucking company (One eye) today. Used to smoke 3-4 packs a day but quit cold turkey after a heart attack. He was hung over as ****. We discussed quitting and the non desirable effects.

I have 7-8 beer tonight and can say "I would like one" but can easily fight it off.

Wish me luck.

Good Luck! I hear it's hard to quit. My aunt did and she said if she found out she was going to die and there was nothing she could do, she'd immediately go buy a pack of cigaretts

As I've always said....you will quit when you want to. Not one day before.

I quit when I was 21,very hard age to quit!! It is all in your head, the hardest thing to do is find something to keep you busy while driving and drinking!

I've been smoking 35 years, I've tried the patch, hypnosis, and Zyban. Still smoking 2+ packs a day. I only drink maybe once a week, but not drinking is a whole lot easier for me than quitting smoking.

As I've always said....you will quit when you want to quit.

Everyone has their vices....can't give them all up.

It took a nasty cold to where I barely could brthe for 4 days to wake me up and say "your an asthmatic, do you want to slow suffercation (ephashima etc) like the rest of your family"

Frankly I can imagine suffering like my Grandfather (dead emphashima) , grandmother-in-law (dead, lupis), aunt (currently in later states of emphashima), father in-law (currently in later states of lung cancer smoking). Uncle (dead from lung cancer).

Since everyone suffers from lung illness in my generation of family I guess I'll accept the cards are stacked against me here.

Best news is I do not know anyone who died of liver failure or any other alchohol related disease.

For those who used to ride me about my smoking is that I would quit smoking If they'd quit drinking. The never took me up on that. Even when I'd promise to quit drinking too. Bet was always $100 gentleman's bet.

Drank a 12 pack last night. Had a very nice buzz. Actually slept through the night...lungs are pretty clear. Don't even have a morning craving for a cig.

Drinking and smoking is how I got addicted in the first place.

Good luck baja!

Like yourself I quit for years and started up about 3 years ago. DUMB & STUPID on my part.

It's true, when you're ready to quit you'll quit. I'm ready. I'm tired of the cough I have. I don't smoke all day until I get home from work at 5:30PM.

Being in the bars and drinking is the hardest. While the new law has passed, it's not being enforced in this area and all the bars are smoking.

We're joining the Y if not before by the 1st of the year and not smoking has to be part of the program. I'll be 45 in 3 months. It's time to get into shape and take better care of myself.

Yep....you got to replace the Habit with something and know what your smoking "triggers" are.

I'm like you, at 43 I'm not happy with my physical condition.

Your still in nicotine withdraw which is a physical dependance. Try the nicorette gum. I used to use it on long airplane flights and it worked pretty well for me.

Week 2 was my homocidal week. Didn't kill anyone but the family layed low. This week is better.

I never smoked inside....As much as Wendy and I Love each other that would have been the end.

Got to relace the triggers with something.

Bother-in-law enforced the rule quickly at his place. He is already down from 1.5 pack to a few cigs per day and says he pretty happy there. He says he pretty much ready to quit cause the pressure from his wife and littles ones is starting to get heavy now grandpa (his dad) is very weak from lung cancer.

One last note. Having lots of sex is a good replacement for smoking if the spouse (or significant other) really wants to help. Wendy has gotten into helping me. Doc said I could basically have all the Livertra I wanted.

That deseves another:devil:
