Oh yeah....bought is back then for about $100 from a person who "needed the money" Probably worth about $200 now....very little usage or wear. Kids have no clue I even have it.

what about the wife?? :D:D
Ironicly, I had problems with mine out of the box. Its fixed now (thanks Bomar) but still cycles stiff...needs shot a lot more.......... I decided on it over the Remington 870 Marine magnum based upon all the "mossberg praise" that the DOD has given, even after pumping several thousand rounds thru my other 870 without the first glitch.

My 500 is a classic shotgun. I would make a much better gunsmith than a marksman. Most of my family is much better marksmen then gunsmith.
Yes Wendy know what I have and where it is.
The cousins want me back on the skeet range. They think it's funny I insist on my pump SG. I tell them I'm not practicing to shoot skeet :)

So, back to the original post, is that a decent deal or not?

Its by no means a "great deal" more like "going rate" for about the same $$ you can get the 590 with a barrel that is a few inches longer and a tube that holds a few more "bullets"
Its hard to find "smokin deals" on NEW guns anywhere. You find the kick azz deals on the various gun forums from people desperatly needing cash for used guns...same with walkers at gun shows, the problem is not that many people own theese "stainless shotguns" so you dont find many deals on them.
If you inisist on buying NEW and you like the one in the link you posted then buy it. Quit beating around the bush, its doubtfull that you will find any kind of real deal on what you want.

the 870 is a great gun, as mentioned in an above post, Ive got one with an assload of rounds thru it and never had the first problem, the Rems are a bit more $$ than the Mossbergs when your looking at the marine versions

its all a matter of opinion.
The DOD or lets just say "millitary" has chosen Mossberg over Remington for durability/reliability/ torture tests..ect..ect...
The mossberg comes standard new in box with a stock and that pistol grip that you highly desire. If you buy a new in box Remington you will have to purchase the pistol grip aftermarket.

Looks like this may be the one. He lowered his BUY IT NOW to $485 and said he'd ship it for that.
Unless someone posts something I like better in the meantime. This is all your fault Tony, Ive had a woody ever since you first posted that picture!

So Thrill, are you saying that you do some smithing on the side? If so, I may have some work for ya. I have a basket case I have given up on. Gonna check locally and see if I can find anyone. If not, I'd rather give it to someone I know and trust.

NO, I am by no means a gunsmith, Ive just been building some rifles from imported parts kits, stuff that was orionally built by malnourished peasants in the Eastern Bloc.
Ask around locally, someone is bound to reccomend a local in your area.
You didnt try to take appart a Nylon 66 did you?? :D

Well, I finally took this advice and made a purchase. Kept beating around the bush and missed a couple good deals, so I finally said f*ck it.
hey Tony,,, if ya want to loosen up your action a little ,,, just load some shells with 410 powder rather than the 12gauge powder,,, or u can use pistol powder,,, it burns faster and generates more heat ,,, the resulting explosion will loosen the action on a pump or Semi-Auto shotgun ,,, I know this from experiance on the Skeet range ,,, we had some extra (read Free) 410powder and ran 200 shells thru a 1100 and a 101 winchester ,,, barrels would fall open when the action was opened on the 101 and the Remington would rattle when it was fired!!!! cool **** ,,, about 6 inches of fire ,, out of the muzzel
RHC
Of course that was in 1965 and the Gun club price was $141.00 for a new 101Winchester ,,, $99.00 bucks for the 1100 Rem ,, US Army price
