I have been around a lot of tires on a lot of different vehicles. I finally got a name brand that deserves my loyalty. Kumho Tires. They are cheap as he11 and by far are the best bang for the buck. I could go on why I like them but I've had them on a Range Rover, Caddy STS, and now my Equinox.
I had it with Goodyears and Bridgestones. They are really making some junk now.
Coopers (and their brands) and Dunlops ALWAYS seem to have problems.
Every General tire seems to be hard as a rock.
Can't afford Michelins (not to mention my issues with the French)
They now have a tech. center in Akron. According to some of the local "experts" I know they really know what they're doing.

So are you selling or what?
I have had goodyear ATS's on my truck for the last 2 sets. I got 70K miles out of the last set and I have about 30K on this set with no problems.
Glad to hear you found something you like

Never buy tires at a "blow out" sale.

I just like the name "Kumho!"
My dad always hated Goodyear tires. He replaced alot of tires on cars we'd buy with Goodyears already on it.

Ive run Yokahamas on the Caddy and was happy. My Edge has something Ive never heard of on it, Korean maybe.

Ive had goodluck with Bridgestone Dueller Revo's on the 01 GMC 2500HD 4x4. Ive already got twice the mileage out of them than I did with the stock Firestone Steeltex's. The Bridgestones still have good tread left. I have about 50K on them.
I have also had goodluck with the BFGoodrich tires on my 06 Ford F350 4x4 Dually. I had them dismounted and rotated once. I have about 32K on them and they still look great.
Had badluck with the firestone steeltexs and Goodyears of the same size in a load range E.

I'll be honest, Ive almost always bought the cheapest tire they offered (any brand). I have never kept a car long enough to worry about how many miles I was going to get out of a set of tires.

I like BFG the best, but no A/T they wear too fast for a DD, but do great in the snow!
I have also had luck with Bridgestone but have not had them for a few years now..

That surprises me, I used to get 65-70K out them on my old road warrior Dakota.

Got 28,000 out of my Bridgestone Duellers down to 4-5/32. JUNK.
On the expedition. I run Goodyear RTS on the front and ATS in the back on the in the winter. The ATS cup like crazy if you run them in the front. The Generals that are on it are OK in the summer but crap in the winter. Yes I have 2 sets of rims with TPMS.
I will not run a tire less than 1/2 tread in the winter.

I totally agree, I do alot of towing in the winter sdo I want the best traction possible, I am amazed at some of the tires I see people drive on...
I replace tires alot on my vehicles for that reason.

I got Kumho's 285/60/17's on my pickup, and 265/60/17's on my Explorer. For a big tire they balance really nice, a little noicy and stiff on the Explorer, not so much on the Lightning. Around 20k on the truck and wearing good. Kumho offers alot of sizes, and there tires have a good look(at least the STX truck/suv tires)
FYI, Tire rack has great desciptions and reveiws on all tires, and is a good site to research tires, good prices, 1 to 2 days to ship to Ohio, plus no tax.

That's were I got my first set. Found some locals who were about the same price after mounting and shipping were added in. They love them and run them on their vehicles. They get very few complaints compared to the other brands.

Ok, need a set for the Monti Carlo. Kumho seems to have a huge assortment of models. Any ideas which ones are the good ones or does it even matter. 225 60 16. Oh, and Yokahamas price has nearly doubled in the last couple years.

Yokohoma's are nice tires, Generals have never been bad to me.
Trailer tires.....that's another issue, are there any good ones at all?

I bought Kumho's for my daily driver, '02 focus. They have been FANTASTIC so far. Haven't even had to shovel the driveway yet..he he he.
Going up-hill in the driveway w/ the front of the car pushing snow...priceless tires.

I might be trading a Focus in next week. I may keep it for driver for a few months.

Best thing about these cars (for me anyway) is that the resale stinks. I picked up an '02 loaded zts for 3,900. Only 2 options it doesn't have is leather and heated seats.
I am getting (summer) around 26 city and 31 hwy.
