Anyone got any DUI stories they'd like to share?

If you get picked up, would you blow or refuse?

I would not refuse due to the fact that with my body weight I may pass, refusal is instant DUI,I would take my chances.
I have a non drinker wife so driving is not a problem these days, she drives me,back in the day I was lucky to get home a few times.

Ask any Lawyer....if you know your drunk....REFUSE, shutup, minimum cooperation but do not resist. Yes no answers only. Mind you you have a camera on you the entire time you are talking taking tests etc.

This accomplished 2 things.

1. the convict you for the driving offense but is not admissable later dates if you get sued.

2. The less you do to incrimenate yourself the better a trial jury will look at your tapes.

More notes:

1. They do not need to read you your moranda rights in order to submit your bablings to the court
2. From the time they pull you over to your court date they are building a case AGAINST you.
3. Police forces get a lot of funding from these "easy kill" cases. It's easier to get off on a murder rap than beat a DUI.
4. If you know your blitzed....refuse the field sobriety tests as well.

Isn't refusal admitting that you are drunk?

bajalion

NO...but you will have your driver's license automatically suspended. If you please no contest you will be found guilty. Else you can fight it AND ask for a trial by jury.

If your borderline take the field test, its results can not be used against you in court, however it gives them reason to arrest you. The one that counts is the one they give you at the station.

Depending on how much $$ you want to spend on Lawyers you CAN beat a DUI, you may have to do some DUI related stuff like "the bucyrus hotel party" aka "beer school" but your driving reccord will never show that you were convicted of an actual DUI charge.

I know a few different people who have had multiple "drunk driving offenses" but do not have any DUI's on reccord, it takes big $$ to beat one.

The problem with DUIs at least in my area is that they hand them out like candy, theres 4 bars in 3 towns within my county and if your on the road past midnight near any one of theese 3 towns your odds of getting pulled over are very good weather youve been drinking or not. Generally thats how the charges get beat becase the cop really didnt have a reason to pull you over to begin with and or does or does not do some minor thing during the stop that he needed to, or should not have done.

The cost to beat a DUI is Very expensive but it is worth it if you consider all the money you will spend in a year's time to get driven everywhere, insurance rates going up and the big scar on your record.

Having a DUI can actually make your life insurance, car insurance go up considerably. Even after they "fall off" your driving record the Ins companies look at your past.

Yep....worth the fight. The system is really set up to nail the first time offender but is almost useless against a habitual offender.

For the record, I'm pretty good about not drinking and driving. I rarely go out to bars anyway. Boating I've been known to have a few but usually Wendy or Sarah are in the boat to drive home.

When my cousins come I get Blitzed and stay at the dock.

Police are making tons of $$$ on DUI. Port Clinton police chief is on record saying they are hurting for $$$ since the DUI convictions are dropped off. I say Congratulations PC police you've done a great job on DUI now find something else to do!

ODNR...one crew got over 300 convictions for BUI in 2005 at about $1k each. 2006 they show up with their new catamaran with supercharged outboards....$300k. Do the math.

The Ottawa county judge is on a holy quest against DUI/BUI...you do not have a chance with him being lienient of with a bench trial. Even his own procecutors don't like him. Rarely accepts any plea bargin if alchohol is involved.

Knock on wood I've never got a DUI/BUI and trying to keep it that way.

I drank a 12 of Labatt's and a few shots one night at a party when I was 21. I ended up getting pulled in Brecksville. I failed every test they gave me. The cop asked me where I was going, I told him Parma and asked him to follow me home. The cop laughed and said that was a little far. So he ended up following me back to my buddy's around the corner and told me if I leave I was getting a dui. Woke up in my truck 2 hours later and drove home.

My buddy wrecked his Cobra right in front of me. He was sh*t faced (I wasnt much of a role model that night). Anyway, a street light pole ran into his car, and he somehow went over the airbag and spidered the windshield (nice bloody forehead). Ended up just getting a wreckless op! Not sure how, unless they felt sorry for him. No insurance, just expired on a car he still owed close to $5000 on...............

Nope, got it sold for him to pay the thing off. Sad part was, I could have bought it reasonably cheap at the time (before it was wrecked) and made at least $2000 on it. This was a couple years ago.

Another time was with my buddy James. I was 17 and had a fake ID. We drank all day at some pool club(I forget the name) and then decide to go down to the flats that night. Mind you, James just got his licence back from a previous DUI and bought this nice Maxima, less than a month earlier. It still had the temporary tag. Turning onto his street he decided to take a short cat nap. I looked over at him as we jumped the curb then looked straight ahead and a telephone poll was all I saw as the car went up in the air and landed on its roof. Luckily the car caught the cable that holds them straight and caused the car to flip instead of going straight on into that pole. We were both fine I had a scratch on my hand. I got out of dodge to get help. The cops were looking for me but drove right past me twice. they called my dad and he was at the scene when they were giving James a field test. He was standing on one leg and just fell over. I got home and talked to the cops they just wanted to make sure I was OK and that was it.

Talk to a procecutor....that kind of video stuff they see all the time.

Test 1. Say alphabet w/o singing. Drunks skip letters.
Test 2. Touch your thumb to each of your 4 fingers one at a time and count...1,2,3,4 the 4,3,2,1. Drunks loose count or or skip a finger or number.
Test 3. Walk a line and do exactly what they say. They will give you a task to do at the same time or as you to do it in a specific way. When you do it wrong you get flustered when your drunk.

Most tasks are very easy but ask you to do 2 things at once. Most drunks fail the multitasking portion.

FYI: If you go golfing and get drunk. If a cop catches you driving a golf cart can write you for DUI. Same goes for riding your snowmobile, 4 runner, cycle etc even on private property.

In Ohio it is illegal to operate a vechile under the influence.
