DIRTY JOBS at PIB.....

I was watching the Discover show "Dirty Jobs" tonight. The main guy (Mike Rowe) did two episodes at Put in Bay. The first "dirty job" was helping a PIB public dock worker (Joe) "harvest" the lake weeds, beer bottles, and other debris out of the downtown marina. It was pretty entertaining

The second episode brought back old memories. Mike Rowe helped an OSU Stone Lab researcher (Gibralter Island) catch several "endangered" Lake Erie Island water snakes. He was bit several times. I remember yrs ago swimming down by the old SB light house and those **** things chasing me in the water. After catching them they went over to Gibralter and examined the snakes. It was pretty cool to see the old lab on TV.

My "dirty PIB jobs" were:

1) Being most jr BBS bartender and having to clean up puke at the BeerBarrel.

2) Doing "community service" (it's a long story) at PIB by paining the curbs on the downtown square.

3) Meeting some REALLY ugly girl at the Skyway one night and ending up at the state park in a tent...........but we won't elaborate on that one either..........

I dont think harvesting the weeds and beer bottles would be bad, but I dont think Id wanna swim in there on a major weekend. Its one giant toilet bowl of puke and piss!:D

I bet they find some interesting stuff in there.

every year the do a underwater cleanup and divers from all over come to dive and pick up trash off of the bottom.

My instructors tried to talk me into it once.

Now that would have been a good episode. I seen that show and some of those jobs are REALLY bad.

Have you seen the pics from the cleanup? Pretty funny stuff.....pile of cellphones was about 6' tall LOL....and I won't get into the adult toys he he he
