I have an audit in Tennessee next month near the JD plant.
Is it true that its actually in a dry county? How can I be expected to effectively perform an audit with due professional care if I am not hung over?

That may blow my idea to take a tour and get as many free samples as I can pour down my throat.

Anyone ever been??

Been there....well worth the trip.
They have a huge new visitors center with a lot of historical stuff...pretty nice.
They then load you onto a little bus and haul you up to the distillery. You see where they rick the wood and burnit for charcoal, see the actual cave stream where the water comes from, the little office and safe, etc, then tour the plant.....and by now you want ataste of JD so bad ou can't tand it.
After the tour (all FREE), they lead you into an area where you get free lemonade and coffee.
The distillery is in a dry county, BUT,,,,,,,
by special act of the state legislator, they are allowed to sell a special commemorative bottle of Old Number 7(changes yearly) at the distillery. It's really pretty cheap, not like they rip you off on it. The only place you can get those bottles is at the distillery, and you can buy all you wish.
So...yes it's a dry county - but there is a way around it.

So if I understand correctly, I get to go on the tour (which sounds interesting) and then get to buy a few bottles of JD to take back to my hotel (I mean home) where I am free to ge as drunk as I wish?? Sounds good. Thanks for the info!!! I may have to leave some time to fit that into the schedule. Anything else in that area to do/see/go.

There is NO other reason to go to Lynchburg..it's barely a spot on the map. My cell phone wouldn't even work there.
Only thing even close would be the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville AL (just across the border)
You can drink all you want in a dry county, just can't purchase hooch (other than the exception above).
Take plenty of pics...I didn't have my camera with me when I went.

Dry Counties .... learned about them on my trip to Destin. Walked into a Ruby Tuesdays somewhere in Alabama and said point me to the bar. The kid said 30 miles that way or 30 miles that way

They have 3 places (that I know of) that serve alcohol now in Somerset, KY. I had to threaten to drain Lake Cumberland if they didnt!

Sign me up, now there's a religion I can handle. :Drunk101:

I visited the JD plant a few years back. Way cool, definitely a worthwhile pilgrimage.
