I know some of you pirates are close by.
I'm looking at a truck in Akron, and need somebody to put an eyeball on it before I make the haul, or pull the trigger (which ever comes first).
Went today to look at two, and one was already gone, and the 2nd one was pretty rough.
A 4hr run up to look at it without someone else giving me an honest opinion would be difficult.
Can anyone help me out??

If Bob isn't able to, I'll be in Youngstown M-F and could run over if need be.

Thanks! I appreciate it.
I don't want to put you out of your way - Youngstown is a little haul to Akron.
I couldn't ask someone to run that for me.
Not to mention, I talked to the dealer tonight...
Very unprofessional, Sounded very young and cocky.
Not someone I'm willing to drive 250 miles to to drop 20Kish for a truck.
Thanks though.

Sorry...just found this thread. I'm at the Lair this week but if you need anything in the future let me know.
Bomar is really good at evaluating used vehicles (except for a certain Expedtion LOL)

Thanks for all the offers.
I spent yesterday wasting 3/4 of my day to look at two trucks.
One that was North of Dayton was already gone (bait and switch came to mind...).
The next one was sitting in the front line of the dealership with a dead battery, rust on all the rotors, and a cob-web in between the license plate cutout in the bumper - she's been sitting awhile. It had big ole chrome low-profile pimp wheels (not exactly my style...) It had a sticker on the window saying "Certified Dent and Ding free" by the "Dent wizard" or some crap.
There was a dent in the hood - looked like it got tagged by a golf ball...
After I talked to the dealer in Akron (Montrose Toyota, I think, Matt) he sounded like a putz.
After REALLY going through the photo's and after some of his answers to the questions (He's selling it on E-bay, and sounded nervous when I said I'd come look at it or have someone stop by) I think I'm passing on this one.
I'm looking at another one in VA now.
I know a few of you guys do a lot of work travel by car, maybe if someones in the area, I'll give you a free "rental" to bring it back close to Cinci if I buy it.
I have tons of Vaca time, I just can't afford to take it.
Thanks for the offers though.

Dunno what you are looking for, but if it's a diesel Superduty I strongly suggest eBay and Texas dealers.
That's where mine came from, talked to the seller 20 times on the phone, assured me if I flew down to pick it up I could have my chjoice of any truck on the lot or he'd loan me a car to go shopping elsewhere, no problem. Of course I ran Carfax on it. Won auction, flew down, picked me up at DFW, test drove, wrote him a check and had a nice trip back. The diesel Superdutys are everywhere there and 100% rust free. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
PM me with what you are looking for and I'll keep my eyes open if nothing else.

Sorry - Bouy, just got back from Boyne Thunder, so I didn't see this. I actually work in Montrose, so I could look it over...but honestly, aside from appearance, I probably couldn't tell you much unless you had some specific things you wanted me to check. I'm sure the other guys here have more mechanical know-how and may be better at evaluation. If you change your mind, though --let me know.

I'm looking for an Avalanche 2500.
These things (2500) aren't as easy to find.
There was on ein Akron I was considering, but a few things I didn't like caught my eye.
I found another in VA that looks really clean.
I'm not "in need", but starting the hunt.
My old '96 1500 Silverado is still getting around just fine, and still has less miles than a lot of the trucks I'm finding.
