We were driving to St Pete today to pick up Debbie's son when her daughter called. She killed a nice eight point this morning. She's supposed to be emailing me pictures. I just called her and she's having trouble emailing them.

Also, Deb's dad killed a six point, her daughter's boyfriend killed a 150 pound hog, and Deb's brother killed a 330# (weighed it) hog!

I'll post pics when she gets them to me.

She finally got the pics to me. I had to change the format and resize them. I hope they work now.

First the big hog.

Erica's deer. Debbie's daddy is holding the deer, because he didn't know how to operate the camera.:)

Here's a picture of the cooler where they hang the meat before skinning and butchering. This picture was taken with what was in the BEFORE today. Apparently, I misunderstood her this morning. Already in the cooler is a six point her dad shot, the 150# hog her boyfriend shot, a six point Deb's brother had shot, and a doe Deb's daddy had shot.

Hogs are starting to make it into some southern ohio counties. Big arcticle in the local newspaper informing hunters to shoot them during next weeks gun season if they get the chance. Ive always wanted to go hog hunting, but theres not an abundance of them here in central OH.

Yep, you better kill them before they get a foothold on the area. They can devestate habitat. I've seen where they have rooted up a couple acres overnight, where it looks like someone ran a rotortiller.

Btw, we have a couple we used to boat with in St Pete. We stopped to see them yesterday on our way to pick up Debbie's son. They were headed to north Florida last night, to hunt on a lease they've had for a few years. Joyce already called this morning and said she killed a buck. I'm betting Brad was asleep in his stand. :)

Sows and barrs are as good as any pork you'll ever eat. Small boars are ok, but big boars stink like he!! I killed one and we cooked some that day that was ok. The next day Deb starter boiling some more of him, and we had to throw the pot and all out the door!

Erica's boyfriend was in the swamp where I missed that giant hog a few weeks ago, and he saw the hog I missed. I know it has to be the same one, there can't be two of them that big out there. He said he was sitting on the ground, and the hogs back was higher than his head! He said he was right close to him, and all he could see were teeth. I asked Erica why he didn't shoot it, and he said it was too far to drag him back through the swamp, and you couldn't eat him anyway. He said they saw a total of 37 hogs today. I asked if he said that hog was bigger than the one that Deb's brother killed yesterday, and he said he!! yes. He said he had tusks that stuck four inches out of his mouth. I warned him yesterday, that if he shot my hog, I'd have his head on my wall instead! :D

I guess I'm going to have to go up there next weekend. :)

Is there a set season on hogs in Fl, or are they considered a statewide nuisance(sp)??

You can hunt wild hogs on private property year round. They are considered domestic livestock. We hunt them with catch dogs at night during the summer, so they won't run off the deer during deer season. I don't give a chit about deer, but most people would rather deer hunt. Give me a hog hunt any day.

State mangement areas have seasons for them. Most of them coincide with General Gun Season (deer season), but some WMA's let you hunt them in small game, although center fire rifles are not allowed.
