I bought both a squeeze tube, and a caulk "can".
I've never used this stuff before.
When I pull the seal on the caulk "can", is there a plastic plunger like regular caulk, or is it straight to the 4200 like a grease gun??
Should I use something to cover the end of the caulk gun plunger so I don't have a mess on my hands?

last time I used it it, the tube was sealed, a coat hanger or welding rod useually does the trick.

After much thought, I dont even think Im gonna use 4200 to re seal my transom. I have some bad azz RTV that Ive been using at work for the past 9 years. The adhesion (sp) quality is crazy. A little bit of this stuff will alone hold a several hundred pound plate of steel to another vertical steel surface indefinately. I dont think Im going to attemtp that with 4200.

It's like a normal caulk cartridge. After you cut the tip angle use a wire to break the seal. The plunger should be visible right now with nothing to remove.

I was referring to the end the plunger of the caulk gun pushes on.
The "can" has a pull-ring seal like a grease cartridge. Just want to be prepared for what's under that.

Pull the ring throw the tube and wait 10sec. It will explode and the 4200 will seal everything!

I actually have a dummy grenade on my desk as a paper weight - it really freaks people out when they come into my office.
It's an actual Army/Navy surplus I bought 20 years ago.

But, is there a seal under the pull ring?? or am I gonna have sealant all over the caulk gun plunger?

yes there is a plunger. 4200 has an terrible shelf life so they add the seal to keep it fresh.

Cool. That's the answer I was looking for.

Now, everyone feel free to hi-jack the hell outta this thread...
