Transom is WET!! it was leaking at the gimble and the wood was not protected at all so it rotted away!! This I did know when I bought it, at least it was cheap!

Yeah, total bull.
In Miami last feb. I was talking to David Knight, told him straight up I was not buying a boat, but I want to go on a tour. He gave me his cell number and said he would personally take me on the tour. I asked the Baja guys, and you would think I spit on their mother.
Oh yeah Doug Smith also offers tours.
That 320 looks like a lot of fun. Think about Bravos and raising the X an 1 yet?

Looks great, I hope eventually mine will get there, outer cosmetics will have to wait a year or two, the wallet will get dry after this winter, I am doing all my work cash, no credit, kinda hard to do alot in one year this way!
last ones. sorry that they are all mixed up..
In this first picture you can see where I cut the floor to remove it. Basically cut it right dead center of the forward bulhead, that way you can screw it down and glass it back together..

Is it somewhere close than you can get pics pretty easy? I would like to see the progress on it during the restoration.
Where you able to find out if the cockpit stringers where toast also?
What material are you using for the stringers?
How long is going to take him to get the glass work done?

It is an hr away, he said he will email me pics or I can go take some as I can, stringers are actually pretty good, we are going to do some work anyway in the engine area since it is apart, the cockpit seems good, I have no stress cracks and I am goin g to address any issues there later anyway, I am sure the front bulkheads needs attention, I have to do a 2 part deal here for money reasons.
The c enter stringer is made from 2- 2/12's stacked, actually pretty strong, he will be starting it late Decmber mostlikely, I left it with him to get it out of my way for a while.
I am using a guy recommended by numerous people, he prob built the boat in 86!
If we find any majior issues they will be addressed if needed, we'll see!

That's cool...
If you want to go even stronger than the pine 2x material, what i did is laminated 2 pieces of 3/4 douglas fir marine grade plywood together with a piece of bi-axial cloth sandwiched between them and screwed them together every 4" with galvinized drywall screws. The reason I went this route is because 2x material can twist and cup over time. The plywood will stay straight because it has the glass between them and they are screwed together every 4"... Just a suggestion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure it will be fine... Just wanted to throw it out there since your starting from scratch. I figured make it as good and strong as possible...Keep me posted with the progress...
Glass in the 3 porthole windows while your at it ,,, it will make the boat look longer and clean lines down the sides ,, also bring it into the 90's and one less thing to leak when ya get in the big stuff !! just a thought !! good luck with your project

You put the boat in good hands, I have seen his work, you just need to stay on him to get it done when you want it, but that is the same with about all the glass guys.
