Would this be worth fixing at that price?

Maybe if you really wanted to have one, personally I think the early Raptors handled like total chit.
Doubt there is any $$ to be made on the deal...people tend to shy away from wrecked/blown/refurbished quads. By the time you spend the $$ to fix it right your probably going to have more than market value in it, and bet your azz that threres some Joe Dirt out there dying to find a cheap wrecked one as a project so they can spend their next 5 years salary on his "dream machine. ;)

Kind of what I was thinking, but havent heard much about the Raptor. I always thought it would be the badass quad when it came out, but I think there is too much competition now. Id still prefer the reliability of Honda.

The stock 660 raptor in 03 only went about 1 to 2 mph faster than my stock 03 Suzuki Z-400
mine gps'd 72 and some change and the raptor barely tapped 73
z-400 handled a thousand times better than the raptor and was turn key reliable.
At that time there were only 3 quads that I would even consider buying
z-400
Bombardier DS 650
400 EX
The DS was hands down the baddest azz quad at that time fastest by far and built to handle the speed that it put out, only problem was it didnt have reverse. cost was about $7500
The z-400 close to the fastest and handled great + it had reverse cost was $5500
The 400ex didnt even come close to the speed or acceleration of the above 2 it was bad azz in its day but its day was long before 2003 handeled great and one of the most reliable sport quads you could buy, cost was about $4k

Are you referring to the Raptor or Honda in General?
If you want to be fast, buy a bike! Mine gps'd at 88 and smoked the DS650 in a drag race.

The owner has given up on the bike after fixing it (sound like he did it himself). I would think that there MAY be more wrong with it.

my modified DS ran 89.7 GPS messing with the rev-limiter would have produced more.

the DS is a heavy quad.. no doubt the no reverse is a real PITA.. it handles great at speed and its movements were predictable and never questionable.

Tony has proven that if you ride naked, you gain over 1/2 mph! The cops wouldnt even chase him!

Did any of you guys see the DS 650 on e bay a while back that had a turboed Hayabusa engine in it???
That thing was a hundred kinds of bad azz actually built right for what it was.:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
Yeah, the hell with those spark arrestors.
Shhhhh! Don't let out my secret. If you want to be really fast, just have a loud bike and rev it alot when you pull up behind someone!

Sounded good on mine until you put it under load then it sputtered and poped.
It was easier to put the spark arrestor back on than to rejet. :D
That pop and sputter goes away after you roll on it a few times, and it just adds to the "scare factor". Nothing like a few pops to get em out of your way.
