mistake, and Ive been kicking myself in the azz all weekend over it but it could have definately been alot worse.

O.K. heres the confession:

Was going from sandbar to out front of Cedar Point to meet up with the tank to watch all the poker run boats go by Saturday afternoon. Cut the corner a bit short (Mind you was still in between the big cement markers and have driven over this spot before) and I go from about 35mph to 0mph in 1/2 second. Immediately knew I ran up onto the sand and threw the throttle down, put in neutral and shut it down. Jumped out to assess damage into the ankle deep water.

Before Frank showed up to help some nice folks walked over to help push it off. As nice as they were I wanted to kick one guy in the nads for walking up and saying "Get your boat stuck in the sand?" I really wanted to say,"No bumbazz my trailer blew a tire!".

At any rate, it took 6 people to push it the 10 feet back to deeper water.

The results: My prop is spotless! Can actually tell its stainless steel! But its running a few degrees warmer. Maybe I sucked up some sand when I had a flat tire on the trailer. The rack dudes were about 5 boats behind when I came in sunday night so I didnt have time to stick around and wait for them to pull it out to see the bottom. May go check it out today.

Sure. Forget lime away, or oven cleaner. I recommend sandblasting!

I was going to start a new thread for this but I figured the title of this one was fitting too.

I must have hit my head when I ran up onto the sandbar Saturday.....

I was talking about all sort of weird things with Sarah sat. and sun.
Now I find myself today looking at ways to spend 2 months fuking salary and its not on jetski, 4 wheeler, home improvements, entertainment system for the house, etc...... But it sure is sparklie!!!! And it may prove if my avatar is true!

WTF is going on with me??? I may still have some drugs in my system!!!

If you were "in between the markers" you were in the wrong place! Go around the markers. Buy a chart of the area you will be surprised how shallow the whole area is.

I seem to always run the shipping channel over that way. I like seeing 29' on the depth finder! I did about 20 laps in the bay last night. 6 to 7' just about everywhere.

This is what I've tried to tell people and they don't want to believe it's that shallow. Two different scenarios can cost you.

A bad Northeaster gives you shallow valleys that will make you hit bottom. Yes It has happened to me.

A heavy southwest wind will blow the water out of the bay causing shallow spots that would not usually be a problem.

Like Teambaja says it is best to run the channel or at least stay close to it. I find with the heavy boat traffic you sometimes need to pop in and out of it but always manage to stay way East of the Sandbar. It may take one more minute:)

Something else to consider is the waves in certain areas. Ive bounced off the bottom 2 different times in areas Ive run through alot.

We had a blast running back over from Kelleys yesterday morning. It was hard to come home ... and work :o

Don't try that on the other side of the railroad bridge...........ROCK wall EVERYWHERE...................the old ATF hit a bunch of them .

They are not marked, most of them are close to the shorelines but I have hit them in the middle and so have many of my friends during hunting season.
